I’m posting for my wife who was referred to this office after an ER visit which was in part due to this office being non-responsive to an Urgent GI referral made by her PCP. A week passed since the time the PCP referral was made and even after a follow up call to this office they were unwilling to schedule her for an appointment. Her symptoms worsened so we went to the Prisma ER where testing and CT scans were done this week to give a preliminary diagnosis of her issues. The ER staff states that they were placing an Urgent GI referral (this is now the second GI referral) and that we should hear from the office within 24 hours. The next morning I read over her discharge papers from the ER which stated we should call the office for her visit, which I did. I was told the on call GI doctor would need to review her chart to determine urgency and we should hear within 72 hours (not 24) as to when she would be seen. She did receive a call about 3 hours later only to be told that she needed to return to her PCP for other testing (which was already ordered and completed by the PCP) and to request an Urgent referral. She advised the staff person this was already done and in MyChart. The staff person told her she would relay this to the on call doc. She received a call about an hour later-the on call doc STILL wanted her seen by the PCP and to get ANOTHER Urgent referral. Wait!!! Now you’ll have 3 Urgent referrals, two are not enough? She asked to speak to a supervisor, she was transferred to a supervisor who did not answer. My wife left a message, and now 25 hours later we have still not heard from this office. We had our PCP set up a referral to another group, and received a call from that group within an hour for her appointment which is scheduled in four days. Apparently the previous groups of doctors that made up the GI Department at Prisma all resigned the same day just a few years ago and set up their own office because of the bureaucratic nightmares that Prisma created. She will be seeing one of the docs that left years ago to form a new group. At least they are prompt and responsive. Ironically she has also been seen by Oncology at Prisma over the last two years and she could not have asked for better, more compassionate care. Apparently GI dances to the beat of a different drum for Prisma.
The office is very unresponsive. I ended up getting a referral to a new gastro office because it’s next to impossible getting help from these folks. Dr. Eaddy, and the PA, Amelia were great! Trying to get help with an appointment or prescription is a different story.
Today i went to get an upper endoscopy for my symptoms i’ve been dealing with for the last 9 months. i had never been put to sleep prior to this so i was extremely anxious. (i have extreme anxiety and couldn’t sleep nights before) when i got there the staff was extremely caring and considerate for me. i was very emotional and they helped me understand what would happen and comforted me. Once i was wheeled to the op room the rest is history ! best scariest experience ever !
Im under the care of Dr. Lizardo, but ultimately see his PA, Maria Smith. Ive only seen the man twice in my whole 3 years of seeing him. Trying to get them to send in orders, scripts, even a call back, is like pulling teeth! Don't even get me started on the RUDE nurses. Cathy being one of them. She has an attitude from hell, and speaks as if she's above everyone, or they're stupid and she knows it all. Lauryn is the ONLY nurse there that I have encountered that is kind and compassionate. Shes the only one that has taken the time to explain things, offer assistance, and support.
My first visit with Dr. Corral Hurtado was amazing! I can tell he truly cares about his patients. I could also tell that he is a very knowledgeable, detailed, and organized physician. I felt very comfortable speaking to him about my issues and the process of finding solutions. I’m glad that I was referred to Dr. Corral Hurtado by my general physician.
