The only animal hospital I'll take my dogs to. They've delt with complex situations for us and treated us and our dogs with absolute compassion, and they solved the problems.

I brought a friends dog in while they were out of town. The hospital is very clean and the staff is knowledgeable and polite. The veterinarian was kind and straight forward. The dog was a bit scared and the staff took great care of her. The reason I gave four stars out of five, is that the interior is lacking some of the more modern amenities and features that animal hospitals I've visited else where have and offer.

The staff at Sierra Madre Animal hospital are amazingly friendly and Accommodating to Annabelle. Paula and Rose and all the rest of the staff have been so helpful🙏

We used to love Dr Cailleteau. He took care of our animals for years. But then he precipitated the death of our cat, through what seems like carelessness, and has not even responded to being asked to acknowledge what happened, so we have had to find a new vet for our other animals. Hopefully he just had an off day or two, but he has definitely appeared to be struggling with major physical pain himself, which is awful, and can be exhausting, so maybe something like that played a role (?). We just don't know. We still think well of him, but we can no longer recommend him. Most disappointing of all, Dr Cailleteau has been completely unresponsive since, so we have no way of clearing things up, which is uncomfortable. Dr Cailleteau said the cat needed teeth removed. She was 12, so we were hesitant, but we agreed with extensive testing first. We never got (and still don't have) a copy of the advance test results, or imaging, or the medical parts of the pre-exam, but Dr Cailleteau said she was fine to proceed, so we did. This is where things went very wrong. Almost a year later, after necropsy and extensive outside veterinary review, we now know that the cat had some truly MAJOR medical problems, and should Never have had dental surgery at all. She had advanced heart disease, severe lung inflammation related to a large cancerous mass, AND the beginnings of liver failure. Without the early exam, lab, and radiology reports, we don't know on what Dr Cailleteau was basing his decisions, but pathology and veterinary review after death say the radiologist would have had to be blind, and Dr Cailleteau could not possibly have used a stethoscope. The cat's conditions were so advanced that they should have been obvious. We would like to place blame with some unknown radiologist, or maybe letting a tech ausculate when he should have himself, but what are we to make of such complete failure of careful testing in advance, specifically to ensure the cat was healthy enough for surgery ? Sadly, going ahead with surgery wasn't even the worst part. Dr Cailleteau directed us to Animal AM-Emergency Clinic for installation of a feeding tube if we could not get her to eat. Seems reasonable enough, right ? Turns out Animal AM-Emergency Clinic has some idiotic policy, by choice of the owner, to "not do feeding tubes". This is a policy that they did not announce or acknowledge, until compelled. They charged us an obscene quantity of money, day after day, for endless unneeded tests, "required for a feeding tube", repeatedly delaying installing a feeding tube, until they had run up a bill of nearly $8k -- at which point we threatened legal action, and they confessed about this policy. The cat was too far gone by then and could not be recovered, even by Access Animal Hospital (which has a much better reputation than Animal AM-Emergency Clinic, who is absolutely not to be trusted). The scale of the problem was not obvious all at once. At first the cat just wouldn't eat. In retrospect we can call it comical (though it's really more thoughtless) that Dr Cailleteau's response was to provide appetite stimulant pills, even after neither we NOR HIS STAFF were able to get them down her throat. Interrupted by Dr Cailleteau's departure for the Thanksgiving holiday, we fell back on his instructions to take the cat to Animal AM-Emergency Clinic for a feeding tube. Apparently even he did not know about this ridiculous policy, though we were counting on him for knowing such things. Part of our education in the process, in case not familiar to others... cats can enter a state, sometimes in as little as 48 hours without food, where -- no matter how hungry they may be -- they will refuse to eat and must be force-fed to be kept alive. Feeding tubes are a very small-scale intervention for just this problem. Every other veterinary facility we have asked has called a feeding tube a normal routine solution that is used all the time. We are at a loss to explain -- and more directly blame -- Animal AM-Emergency Clinic's behavior for the cat's death.
